Pasquale
Pasquale's is our favorite tomato sauce partly because the guy behind the tomatoes reminds us of our Uncle Anthony from Brooklyn (check out this video below).
His pasta sauce is uniquely tasty (read our notes here!) but we prefer the La Mosalina brand of pasta and wheat because of their lower price point and vertical integration (higher quality).
About
Here's the boring marketing-speak-heavy description of the brand, in case you care.
Pasquale’s Italian Imports is more than just a business—it’s a labor of love rooted in tradition, family values, and a deep passion for sharing authentic Italian flavors. Founded by Chef Presa, the company reflects a lifelong connection to the land and its bounty, inspired by childhood memories of harvesting produce from the garden with his family in Italy. With over three decades of culinary expertise, including training at the Culinary Institute of America and years as an executive chef, Presa returned to his roots, creating a company that celebrates the integrity of its products. Every item is a testament to his commitment to quality, authenticity, and honoring his family’s legacy. The Pasquale’s products aren’t just good—they’re a reflection of love, tradition, and the enduring spirit of Italian cuisine.
Location
Apulia, or Puglia, is a region in southern Italy renowned for its fertile soil and favorable climate, ideal for cultivating high-quality tomatoes. The area’s proximity to the Adriatic Sea contributes to the unique flavor profile of its produce. Chef Pasquale’s Crushed Tomatoes from Apulia are harvested from this bountiful countryside and seasoned with a hint of natural sea salt, enhancing their rich, robust flavor. These tomatoes are versatile and can effortlessly elevate a variety of dishes, bringing an authentic taste of Italy to your culinary creations.
