You might think that most canned tomatoes are created equal, we strongly disagree! We have sampled dozens of varieties of canned tomatoes from Costco, Whole Foods, Natural Grocers etc and in our opinion, these taste superior to them all!

Some of our favorite Italian dishes were the various “sugos” our Italian nonna, Graziella, made for us while we lived in Assisi. These were different tomato-based pasta sauces and were so simple to make, but always incredible because of the 100% Italian tomatoes. When curating our Italian pantry staples, these tomatoes were a must!

We find that whole peeled tomatoes are perfect for crafting robust pasta sauces (think vodka sauce, ragu, or a simple tomato sauce) or immersion blending for a simple pizza sauce. The crushed tomatoes are great for soups, stews, chili, and other tomato-based dishes that aren’t necessarily Italian, because the whole tomatoes are canned with basil and the crushed are just plain!

Chef Pasquale's Italian Tomatoes are meticulously sourced from the sun-drenched fields of Apulia (a region of southern Italy also known as Puglia). Kissed by the Adriatic Sea's gentle breezes, these tomatoes are harvested at peak ripeness and seasoned with a touch of natural sea salt, delivering a rich, full-bodied flavor that embodies the essence of Italian cuisine.

Available in whole peeled and crushed, these tomatoes are crafted with minimal ingredients—no added sugars or preservatives—ensuring a pure, high-quality product.

Sizing Notes And How We Use It

Feeding a family of six means I’m usually cooking in large quantities using my 5.5-quart pot. Whether I have a box of twelve 14oz cans or six 3000g (~6lb) cans, my approach to meal prep remains the same:

  • The Standard Batch: I typically use about 28-42oz of tomatoes (two to three small cans or half of a large can) for a single meal. This works perfectly for a fresh pasta sauce or a base for chili.
  • The Big Batch: To save time, I’ll often cook a full 3000g can (or 4-5 small cans) all at once. Since this fills my 5.5-quart pot, I’ll serve half for dinner and either freeze the finished sauce or save it for another meal later in the week.
  • Sequential Meals: I’ve found great success using half of the tomatoes (or two small cans) for a pasta sauce one night, then using the remaining half for a chili or tomato soup the very next evening.
